Sibsons Fascia PPT Summary

  1. Sibson’s fascia is positioned on the thoracic inlet and is triangular, attached from the 7th cervical vertebra to the 1st rib and costal cartilage.
  2. It extends from the transverse process of the seventh cervical vertebra and is firmly anchored to the first rib.
  3. The fascia’s superior surface is associated with subclavian vessels, while its inferior surface relates to the cervical pleura covering the lung apex.
  4. It stabilizes the thoracic inlet, protects the cervical pleura, and prevents excessive neck movement during respiration by resisting changes in pressure.
  5. Sibson’s fascia may include attachments to this muscle, which occasionally reinforces the posterior portion of the membrane.
