1. The scapula is a large, flat, and triangular bone located on the posterolateral aspect of the thoracic cage.
2. It has two surfaces (costal and dorsal), three borders (superior, axillary, and vertebral), three angles (superior, inferior, and lateral), and three processes (spine, acromion, and coracoid).
3. The scapula provides attachment for various muscles, including the subscapularis, supraspinatus, infraspinatus, deltoid, biceps brachii, coracobrachialis, triceps brachii, teres minor, teres major, omohyoid, levator scapulae, rhomboideus minor, and rhomboideus major.
4. It also has several ligaments, such as the glenoid labrum, AC joint capsule, coracoacromial ligament, coracohumeral ligament, coracoclavicular ligament, and suprascapular ligament.
5. The scapula can be determined by its lateral or glenoid angle, convex dorsal surface divided by the spine, concave costal surface, and thickest border running from the glenoid cavity to the inferior angle.
